Malaysia has ratified the Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol on Ozone Layer Thinners under the Vienna Convention for the Protection of the Ozone Layer. The instrument for this ratification was submitted to the United Nations based in New York, United States of America on October 21, 2020 through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
This ratification shows the country’s commitment in protecting the environment, especially the ozone layer in dealing with climate change. The Kigali amendment has been effective from 1 January 2019. To date, 110 countries have ratified the amendment, including Malaysia.
