ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY COUNCIL
In 2020, the Environmental Quality Council held the 128th Environmental Quality Council (EQC) Meeting on 10 July 2020 chaired by the Chairman of the Environmental Quality Council, YBhg. Dato ‘Dr. Nadzri bin Yahaya.
Although the Department of Environment (DOE) has now been placed under the management of the Ministry of Environment and Water, the appointment of members of the Environmental Quality Council (EQC) made under Section 4, Environmental Quality Act is still in force for the period until 31 May 2022.
Appointments Council members are for three (3) years commencing 1 June 2019 until 31 May 2022. The list of members of the 16th term EQC is as in Table 1.
The meeting discussed a consideration paper on the Proposed New Drafting or Amendment of Regulations on the Control of New Pollutants which is the control of pollution from livestock activities, mining, aquaculture, water from washing and washing activities at home (greywater).
