Date of adoption, 22 May 2001. This convention came into force when all parties involved were required to eliminate or reduce the release of POPs into the environment in 2004.
Malaysia signed the Stockholm Convention on 16 May 2002. However, Malaysia has not yet ratified the convention as the preparation of a National Implementation Plan (NIP) that has not yet been met apart from still strengthening that country’s capacity to manage POPs.
